About this translation

This is an English translation, provided so you can read what you are agreeing to. The Dutch version is the binding one: Stella is sold from the Netherlands under Dutch law, and if the two texts differ on any point, the Dutch text applies. You can read it at stella-app.nl/algemene-voorwaarden, stella-app.nl/privacybeleid, stella-app.nl/cookiebeleid and stella-app.nl/herroepen.

1. In short

We count, anonymously and without cookies, how many people visit the site and where they come from, with Vercel Web Analytics. We also advertise on Reddit, and use the Reddit Pixel to see what those ads bring in. And we work with partners who recommend Stella. The Affonso pixel remembers who brought you here.

For both we ask your consent, with one button, because cookies come with them. Say no and neither loads. We also set one functional cookie and some storage in your own browser. Those are needed to make the site work and fall under the exception in article 11.7a paragraph 3 of the Dutch Telecommunications Act, for which no consent is required.

2. The cookies we set

stella_spot — remembers for a year who you are when you arrive through the link in a waitlist email, so /plek can show your spot. It contains a signed code, no email address, and cannot be read by scripts on the page. Only set if you follow such a link. Functional, no consent needed.

stella_ref — keeps for 90 days which referral code you used if you arrived through an /r/ link, so that whoever referred you can see it later. It contains only that code, no personal data, and is only set if you follow such a link. Functional, no consent needed.

Vercel Web Analytics: counts visits, the campaign you came from, whether the price came into view, signups, clicks on founding member, and whether the film is started and watched to the end. Sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser, and recognises a visit for one day at most. That is why it runs for everyone, without consent. We never send your email address along.

Reddit Pixel: shows Reddit whether someone who clicked our ad on Reddit then visited the site, joined the waiting list or became a founding member. Reddit sets its own cookie for this (_rdt_uuid) and links those visits to your Reddit account if you are signed in there. We do not give Reddit any email address. We only load the pixel with your consent, through the same button as the statistics above, and refusing keeps it out entirely. Reddit is a US company; what that means is set out in article 11 of the privacy policy.

Affonso pixel. Loads only after your consent. If you arrive through a partner link, the pixel sets two cookies that remember that partner for 90 days. If you sign up or become a member, the pixel passes on your email address so Affonso can calculate that partner's fee. Processor: ZASolution (Affonso), Fellbach, Germany. Servers in Frankfurt.

3. Storage in your browser

These stay in your browser and exist to let the page remember something. Only stella_channel, stella_campaign and stella_invite are sent to us, and only when you sign up or become a founding member.

stella_waitlist — remembers that you have already signed up, so that we do not ask for your email address again.

stella_intro — remembers within a single session that the opening animation has already played.

stella_email — remembers the address you signed up with, so that it is already filled in if you become a founding member afterwards. It stays in your browser only.

stella_consent — remembers whether you accepted or refused statistics, so that we do not ask again every time. You can change that choice below.

stella_channel and stella_campaign: remember which site or campaign first brought you here. We send them along when you join the waiting list or become a founding member, so that we know which channel worked.

stella_invite: remembers the invite code if you arrived through someone else’s link, until you sign up or become a founding member. We send it along then (through Stripe, for a founding member), so that person moves up, and it is deleted afterwards. Functional, no consent needed.

stella_reddit_purchase: remembers that your purchase has already been reported to Reddit, so that a second visit to the thank-you page does not count as a second purchase. Only written if you gave consent.

affonso_referral: which partner referred you. 90 days.

affonso_data: technical details of the referral (click id, timestamp). 90 days.

4. Removing them yourself

You can throw them away at any time through your browser settings (usually under "Privacy" or "Website data"). The site keeps working afterwards; you will simply see the signup form and the question about statistics again.
